Are You Sick Of Fake 3-D Movies ????

So far this year we have gotten two really bad post 3-D conversion films.  CLASH OF THE TITANS & THE LAST AIRBENDER.  Now granted, the movies were bad enough before the 3-D Upgrade/Downgrade (depending on how you look at it) But the fake 3-D made the movies even worse.  Let’s face it, nobody actually enjoys having to wear glasses during a movie just to see 3-D. When the process done right like with AVATAR or MY BLOODY VALENTINE, then you do not mind it so much because the effect is well worth it.

I was lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to  see TITANS & AIRBENDER at free advanced screenings, so I did not have to shell out those $13-$15 ticket prices. The problem is, that a majority of the public has to shell out the cash and as I watched both of these films, I felt so bad for the people who were going to buy tickets to these films and even take their kids. Just to get ripped off.  It’s one thing to shell out $10 and see a bad movie, it happens to all of us.  But to pay a premium for a ticket to see a movie in 3-D just to get something that is not actual 3-D is a scam.  That’s right, the movie studios are really scamming the public with the post conversion process.

Now I can’t tell you if the conversion process will improve in the future, but I can do my best to help you save some money in the near future by letting you know which movies were actually shot in 3-D and which ones were simply converted with the fake 3-D.  I recommend you pay to see the films shot in 3-D and see the converted ones in 2-D if you do not want to feel ripped off.  Whether the films themselves are good or bad is yet to be seen.  I know that I still want to see Piranha 3D in actual 3-D because the creatures were created digitally and to my understanding actually do jump off the screen, but it could still be a letdown just like the rest.

One last thing.  It was announced today that TRANSFORMERS 3 will be shot in 3D using the same process that was used for AVATAR.  That’s the good news.  The bad news, they are still making TRANSFORMERS 3.
